Over the past 20 years, we have proudly supported thousands of Canadian athletes and coaches. We believe in supporting Canadian athletes at the early stages of their careers, long before they become stars. We support the Canadian Olympic Team in these ways:

• Olympic athletes and coaches are eligible to receive financial assistance through the Petro-Canada Fuelling Athlete and Coaching Excellence (FACE)™ Fund. View our FACE™ recipients
• We are a contributing sponsor of Own The Podium - 2010. This $110-million sport technical initiative is designed to help Canada place as the top nation at the 2010 Olympic Games. The focus of this initiative is to provide additional resources and high performance programming to Canadian athletes, coaches and support personnel to help them achieve podium success in 2010.
• Community Outreach Program: In partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee and as part of their annual Congress, Petro-Canada sponsors a Community Outreach Program in every year. The program pairs prominent Olympic Athletes with schools in a selected city for a series of inspirational sessions. Students of all ages meet high profile and notable Olympic athletes and have a chance to listen and ask questions about their careers in sport.

The performance of the Canadian athletes at the Olympic Winter Games in Torino was spectacular. The team concluded the XX Olympic Winter Games with a total of seven gold medals, 10 silver medals and seven bronze medals, putting Canada in third place overall in the final standings.
