Canada’s Most Respected Corporations
Recognized in KPMG 2005 Honour Roll

The Eleventh Annual Survey of Canada's Most Respected Corporations invited 250 leading Canadian CEOs to indicate the corporations they respect most. The survey, conducted between October and November of 2005 by Ipsos-Reid, asked CEOs to grade companies in eight categories. We ranked 24th in the Top 25 - 2005 Honour Roll and placed in the top 10 in the Corporate Social Responsibility category.

2005 Alf Peneycad Takes Home Top Honours

Alf Peneycad was named Canadian General Counsel of the Year at the National Post-ZSA Canadian General Counsel Awards. Mr. Peneycad — one of the country's most well-respected and best-liked general counsel — credited his legal team at Petro-Canada: "Canadian law firms are second to none. At Petro-Canada we have an outstanding legal team. This is really their award."

“Alf Peneycad is one of Canada's most well-respected general counsel… As Petro-Canada's general counsel since 1996, he has seen the corporation develop from one of Canada's largest oil and gas companies to an energy company with an increasingly global outlook… Mr. Peneycad, who is also vice-president and chief compliance officer for Petro-Canada, is credited with the company's 2004 recognition for excellence in corporate governance disclosure by Canada's chartered accountants.”

Top 50 Most Socially Conscious Corporations in Canada

Petro-Canada placed ninth out of 50 of the most socially conscious corporations in Canada in 2005. Corporate Knights, a Toronto-based magazine specializing in corporate ethics, compiled the ranking based on:

• employee relations
• environmental and safety practices
• share performance

Top Honours, 2005 Environmental Award of Excellence for think FOOD

Petro-Canada’s thINK FOOD project received Top Honours, 2005 Environmental Award of Excellence at the Green Toronto Awards in the category Community Project. The program helps raise funds for local food banks.
